Welcome...
Welcome to the home page of the Canton of Crois Brigte. We are a
branch of the Society for Creative Anachronism for Forsyth, Surry,
Wilkes and Yadkin Counties in
North Carolina, located in the Barony of the Sacred Stone in the
Kingdom of Atlantia. Our focus is recreating the Middle Ages and
Renaissance periods of history (600AD - 1600AD).
We fight with sword and shield, dance pavanes and galliards, wear
sumptuous finery and more all in the name of fun and frolic. On
behalf of all the members of Crois Brigte and the Barony of The
Sacred Stone, we extend to you a most heartfelt welcome.

The SCA is an international organization dedicated to researching
and re-creating the arts and skills of pre-17th-century Europe. Our
"Known World" consists of 19 kingdoms, with over 30,000 members
residing in countries around the world. Members dressed in clothing of
the Middle Ages and Renaissance attend events which may feature
tournaments, arts exhibits, classes, workshops, dancing, feasts, and
more. Our "royalty" hold courts at which they recognize and honor
members for their contributions to the group.
Any of our members will tell you the best way to become an integral
part of our family is to become as active as your mundane
(real-life) responsibilities allow. With that in mind, check out our Activities
Link for information on our regular get-togethers.
While SCA membership is not required for you to participate in
the activities, it is highly recommended for the following
reasons.
- You will receive the kingdom newsletter, The Acorn, which will
provide information on other events in the kingdom.
-
Your membership will allow you to participate fully
in SCA activities.
- Also, there is a $5 surcharge for non-members to attend SCA events,
so membership saves money.
- SCA memberships are priced affordably, plus student
memberships and family discounts are also available.
If
you would like additional information, see our officers' page for
contact information. We also have a monthly business meeting held on
the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 pm. We meet at different
locations; so, please check the calendar (http://www.croisbrigte.org/calendar/)
for this month's place.
Again, welcome to the Canton of Crois Brigte and the Barony of The
Sacred Stone.

Part of our device incorporates the
cross of St. Brigid. The original cross was
woven with rushes from the river Shannon.
It is tradition in Ireland to
hang a St. Brigid's cross over your door on this day to ensure good health
throughout the coming year.
